Why get your aircon cleaned?
Pop the cover off a split system that hasn't been cleaned in a year and you'll usually find the same thing: a coil caked in dust, black mould spotting the tray, and a fan barrel coated in grime. Every time it kicks on, it blows that straight back into the room you're sitting in.
A dirty coil also makes the unit work harder to cool the room, so it runs longer and costs more to run through a Brisbane summer. If it smells musty when it starts up, or it isn't as cold as it used to be, it's due.
How we clean a split system
We turn the power off at the unit, lay drop sheets down and fit a cleaning bag under the indoor unit so every drop of dirty water runs into a bucket, not onto your floor or wall.
Then we wash the coil and the fan barrel out with a pressure sprayer until the water runs clear, clean the filters and the plastics, and put it all back together. Most systems take under half an hour.
